Senior Material Engineer Location: Muscat, Oman KEY DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES The key role of a Senior Material Engineer is to help deliver technical projects, usually as part of a project team, reporting to a Project Manager. This will include:• Delivering projects in line with contract specified targets, resources and budgets• Developing repair / spares, cataloguing, BoM & warehouse deliverables utilising BuildME Softwareo Accurate data fileso Clear and concise reportso Recommendations to clients• Ensuring quality via the application of the “RIGHT F1RST TIME” principles• Contributing to continuous improvement of systems, processes and procedures for material & inventory management• Providing technical guidance to staff from other disciplines engaged in the implementation of repair, spares and warehouse strategies• Personal development in both technical and consultancy skills to enable progression within business This role is located at our client’s office in Muscat and therefore has specific activities based upon the clients current and future requirements:• Manage the interface betwee client’s IT, maintenance, procurement and supply chain.• Maintain and update Oracle with respect to new vendors, new equipment.• Manage queries and QA/QC of data cleansed by a 3rd party• Provide remote training to client’s remote warehouse staff to use SparesFinder software.• Rationalize the materials Master data• Generate new Materials Master descriptions• Review exisiting SPIRs and data extraction, polutate flat files• Verify Tags against Master Tag Register• Liasise with client regarding any anomalies.• Provide advice regarding applicability of the Repair & Spares strategy• Create BoMs• Assign Repair & Spares codes to the matrix Knowledge The role of a Senior Engineer - Materials requires a knowledge of:• Materials, warehousing & inventory management• Equipment used in the oil & gas industry• Principles of maintenance and reliability • Data analysis and data structures used in CMMS & ERP systems Qualifications Qualifications that support the role of materials consultant include:• Tertiary qualifications in engineering, supply chain or IT• Vocational qualifications in maintenance disciplines• Vocational qualifications in logistics, warehousing or procurement• Experience in CMMS / ERP systems Skills: Technical• Highly developed data analysis skills in MS Excel and MS Access to evaluate & prepare materials data• Advanced written and verbal communication• Sound PC skills especially MS Office; Word, Visio, PowerPoint & Outlook• Ability to deliver technical reports on time and to budget, and at the appropriate technical level• An attention to detail and ability to QC material deliverables• Ability to prioritise activities and work with project manager to ensure deliverable deadlines are met • Advanced time management and organisation skills Interpersonal• Ability to listen to client issues, understand requirements, document and identify solutions• Good interpersonal skills• Team player, but with the ability to work individually when required• Ability to establish good client relationships at all levels.• Ability to self motivate, prioritize and represent Petrofac in front of the client. EssentialThe postholder will have an understanding of asset management & supply chain and will have worked at least 5 years in oil and gas, processing or manufacturing industry, with experience of:• Maintenance, Repair and Operations • Experience of working in an Oracle environment• Materials cataloguing• Maintenance planning /scheduling• Data analysis & reporting• Developing BOM’s linked to equipment and maintenance Desirable• Previous consulting experience• SAP, Maximo or similar CMMS & ERP systems• Tertiary qualifications in engineering, IT, supply chain or similar• Practical experience in servicing & repairing equipment• Experience in material process development and optimisation; in undertaking audits and benchmarking for performance improvement of supply chain
