English Language - EFL / Key Skills Instructor Working closely with the Lead Academic Instructor, the EFL and/or Key Skills instructor will be a key contributor to the success of the Academic Instructor Team. Effectively delivering EFL and/or Key Skills training courses to Omani national trainees, the EFL and/or Key Skills instructor will be supporting trainees to achieve their full potential, assisting in the development of the Foundation Program curriculum and assessment to required standards and providing remedial training where required. Essential Duties & Responsibilities To purposefully plan, prepare and deliver up to 30 hours/week of EFL and/or Key Skills classes and materials in accordance with the curriculum, target competencies and quality standards.To make effective use of technology enhanced learning resources and to promote blended learning through use of audio, video, e-resources, information and communication technologies and realia to achieve lesson aims and to enhance the training centre’s reputation as a foremost training provider.To employ effective strategies, approaches and methodologies to motivate learners, encourage student autonomy, maintain classroom discipline and to promote a positive, business-like work ethic within a learner – centred classroom environment.To closely monitor and give feedback to learners/line management/sponsors on student performance and to identify and act immediately to mitigate failure and resolve potential failure cases through planned remedial actions.To contribute to the evaluation, development and continuous improvement of EFL and/or Key Skills courses, teaching materials and related resources to meet student needs as expressed through feedback, client requests and ongoing needs analysis.To consider individual learning styles and provide a classroom environment conducive to the learning of all.To complete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards.To maintain accurate and comprehensive records of work including homework set, lesson plans, peer observations, student records, quizzes and progress/achievement tests.To effectively administer assessments including high stakes summative achievement tests and carry out invigilation duties as specified in local centre policies and procedures.To carry out placement testing and assist with other registration duties as required.To effectively manage the student learning experience and relationship with training centre administration and support staff.To keep regularly updated professionally with research-led best practice in EFL and/or Key Skills pedagogy and to constructively and professionally contribute to the continuing professional development activities of the training centre to ensure high standards of delivery are maintained and that Petrofac remains at the forefront of best practice in delivery of EFL and/or Key Skills courses within the industry.To follow appropriate policies and procedures governing the use of intellectual property and software.To ensure appropriate storage and corporate branding of in-house produced materials for shared access fully observing copyright laws.To follow and comply with Petrofac Training International Standards.To ensure the health and safety of delegates under your responsibility.To provide clients with detailed student progress reports containing the assessment, level of competence, attendance and behaviours of the trainees.To carry out any further duties as directed by the management to ensure the efficient running of the department. English Language Proficiency Native English Speaker.Non-Native English Speakers:- EFL Instructors: IELTS Band 7 or TOEFL 94 IBT or 600 PBT or 250 CBT Qualifications English language / Key Skills Health & Safety:Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language (TESL/TEFL/TESOL), English Language or Applied Linguistics (Master’s Degree desirable)A teaching certificate such as the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA)(DELTA or equivalent desirable)Excellent IT/Presentation Skills Experience 4 yrs relevant teaching experience requiredExperience teaching in a Vocational / Technical Context Desirable
